Car Repair
Payment for car repairs is offered through the Prevention, Retention, and Contigency (PRC) Program.
Targeted individuals include under-employed individuals, individuals at-risk of meeting OWF time limits, and individuals maintaining or obtaining employment.
What Services are Offered?
Reasonable cost of parts and labor to repair vehicle for employment of at least 20 hours per week at minimum wage or equivalent or full-time training that is for a credential.
Funding is limited per 24 month period up to $1000 for car repairs.
Services are to be provided at one of this list of providers.
Who is Eligible?
The following groups are potentially eligible for these services:
- Specified relative with minor child(ren).
- Legal custodian/guardian with minor child(ren).
- Pregnant woman with no other minor child(ren) in the home residing in Seneca County.
- An Ohio non-custodial parent if the non-custodial parent and/or the child reside in Seneca County.
In addition, applicants must meet certain citizenship requirement and the applicant's gross income must be at or below the 150% of the Federal Poverty Level.

An applicant is responsible for completing all necessary documents, furnishing all available facts and information, and cooperating in the eligibility determination process. All needed information is subject to verification. The applicant also must cooperate with exploring available community resources.

A case worker at our office can help you if you are having problems getting needed information.
The following information must also be provided:
- Statement from the employer to verify the employment or statement from training institution to verify enrollment
- Proof of Driver's License
- Proof of auto insurance
- Proof of vehicle ownership
- Estimate of cost to repair vehicle and statement that the repairs are necessary
- Verification if vehicle is repairable or safe to drive

It is important that you mail, fax, or deliver your application to our office as soon as possible as it could affect the effective date that you may be eligible to receive benefits.
What Happens After I Apply?
If additional documentation is needed, a checklist will be mailed to you.
Applicants will be notified by mail of their approval or denial.
The Seneca County Department of Job and Family Services is responsible for approving or denying the request within 10 business days after the completion of the application process. A PRC application will be denied after 30 days if all requested verifications are not received. The completion of the application process starts with the receipt and/or verification of all requested documents.
