Health Care Coverage

Health Care Coverage is provided through various Medicaid programs to certain low-income and medically vulerable people. Eligible persons are entitled to medically necessary services at no or low cost.

Health Care for the Aged, Blind and Disabled- Adults 65 and older may be eligible for coverage.  Individuals of any age with disabilities, including individuals who are legally blind, may also qualify.

Health Care Coverage for Breast and Cervical Cancer Treatment- Medicaid is available to women who have been screened for breast or cervical cancer through the Ohio Department of Health's Breast & Cervical Cancer Prevention Program (BCCP), and are found to be in need of treatment for breast and/or cervical cancer, including precancerous conditions.

Health Care Coverage for Children & Families - Describes health insurance information available for children under age 19, pregnant women and families.

Health Care Coverage for Workers with Disabilities - Historically, people with disabilities were often discouraged from working because their earnings made them ineligible for Medicaid coverage.  This program was created to enable Ohioans with disabilities to work and still keep their health care coverage.

Help Paying Medicare Premiums, Deductibles, and Coinsurance -  Individuals with low incomes who are eligible for Medicare can receive help with all or part of their Medicare Part B premiums, co-payments and/or other deductibles. Different levels of assistance are available depending on income.

Home Health Care - Programs are available that help people stay at home with the aid of supportive services instead of going to live in a nursing home, hospital, or an institution for persons with developmental disabilities.

Nursing Homes and Long Term Care - Sometimes the best solution for a person with a severe disability or medically unstable condition is care in a nursing home or intermediate care facility for people with mental retardation and/or developmental disabilities.

Transportation to Health Care Appointments - Transportation services are available for Medicaid eligible individuals to and from Medicaid providers.
