What is the On the Job Training (OJT) Program?

Eligible employers who hire eligible job seekers will qualify to receive reimbursement of 50% of that job seekers wages for a pre-determined training period.  If you're an employer, see our OJT Information for Employers.

Who is Eligible?

There are 2 sources of funding: adults and dislocated workers. Basic eligibility requirements for both adults and dislocated workers include the following:

  • Must be over age 18.
  • Males who were required to register for selective service must provide documentation of registration.
  • Income guidelines are reviewed only if the applicant is employed at the time of application.

published January 23, 2009

In order to qualify as a dislocated worker, the individual must be laid off, eligible for unemployment benefits AND be "unlikely to return to his/her previous occupation."

What do I need to do if I want to participate in an OJT?

A customer that is interested in participating in an On-the-Job training should complete and submit the OJT Request for On-the-Job/Customized Training. This document provides the Seneca One Stop with detailed information regarding the employee, the employer, training requirements and funding.  When an eligible tranee is identified, a OJT Training Outline is completed.

  • OJT Request for On-the-Job/Customized Training - Document that provides the Seneca One Stop with detailed information regarding the employer, the employee, training requirements and funding.
  • OJT Training Outline - This document provides the employer, the Seneca One Stop and the employee an outline of the On-the-Job training expectations and outcomes. This is used after an eligible trainee is identified.
